Chiminea Usage - The Mexican Fireplace

Chimeneas are made in the Guadalajara area of Mexico, world renowned for its red clays and superior craftsmanship of pottery. These hand-crafted items take 28 days to be manufactured.

They can be used in different manners. Some of the most popular uses include an outdoor fireplace (to keep you warm on a cool night or shew away mosquitos), a garden planter or the original intention-to cook food. They look great sitting on a deck or by a pool. Large and miniature models also look great in a living room to create ambiance.

Making an informed choice

The number one concern about purchasing a chiminea is safety. I am asked if they can be dangerous if there is a fire inside one. Yes, of course! What fire is not dangerous. Everyone should exercise caution building and maintaining any fire.

NOT ALL CHIMNEYS ARE ALIKE! No one can guarantee a chimney won't crack. The best way to avoid cracking is to buy quality and take proper care.

The chimineas we sell are high in quality. They take a minimum of 28 days to produce. What this means is extra effort is put in the craftsmanship, but more importantly adequate time is given for the clay to dry before it gets fired in the kilns. If chimneys are fired before being thoroughly dried, they could come out cracked. Do not buy a rushed job!
